Cusco – Km 104 – Wiñay Wayna – Sun Gate – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Your adventure begins early in the morning with pickup from your hotel in Cusco and transfer to the train station in Ollantaytambo. You will board a tourist train that follows the scenic route through the Sacred Valley, offering beautiful views of mountains, rivers, and traditional villages.

After approximately 1.5 hours, you will arrive at Km 104, the official starting point of the Short Inca Trail. After passing the control point and presenting your permit and passport, you will begin your hike accompanied by a professional guide.

The trail gradually ascends through a cloud forest environment rich in flora and fauna. Along the way, you will visit the impressive archaeological site of Wiñay Wayna, where you can explore terraces, temples, and ceremonial spaces while learning about its historical importance.

After a short rest and lunch, you will continue hiking toward the Sun Gate (Inti Punku). As you reach this iconic viewpoint, you will be rewarded with your first panoramic view of Machu Picchu, one of the most unforgettable moments of the entire journey.

From there, you will descend toward Machu Picchu for a short guided visit (depending on time and circuit availability). After exploring the citadel, you will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes.
